The dynamics of power are an intriguing prospect. The perception of power having been gained through unjust and bizarre means further equates and calls into question what the perception of power truly means. Compounded with the push and pull of inter-relationship struggles, love, understanding and empathy, the concept of "Hanging on the Phone" both lyrically and conceptually is a multi-faceted metaphor in how all of these dynamics play out in the context of true life events.
